Disclaimers, Kudos and notes:   All songs are owned by the artists and studios.  I lay absolutely no claim to them.  I make no money, gold pressed latinum, Republic Daitari, etc from this page.   Kudos to the artists of these gorgeous, lovely, moving and powerful songs.  Music lift’s one’s spirit and your magical melodies have brought me great joy, love and life.

Apologies for any mis-typed lyrics and other errors, though I have endeavoured to transcribe well and give credit.

Please note that I will remove lyrics if I am asked to do so by the artists and/or studios, in respect for the artists.  However, I will still list the track title and links where the songs and albums can be purchased from.

Notes:  I was inspired by my best mate Annie.  She made the first Lore tape of songs that reminded her about Lore.  It was so cool and I loved it so much, I went crazy making my own.  I stopped after number 7.  I thought I had finished.

Lore, on the other had, had other plans … ;)

With the help of Annie, Red Skye and Lyric websites, I have transcribed each of the songs (bar the instrumental ones, of course) and given my feelings on how the songs and pieces relate to Lore and/or Data.  Some serious, some moving, some silly and funny, some promiscuous J and some well just felt right!

Rating M –For a few naughtie songs!! ;)

LYRICS TO BOHEMIC RHAPSODY

1.         INTO THE NIGHT  (Julee Cruise, 1989)

Now it's dark...

Into the night

I cry out

I cry out your name

Into the night

I search out

I search out your love

Night so dark

Where are you

Come back into my heart

So dark

So dark

Into the night

Shadows fall

Shadows fall so blue

I cry out

I cry out for you

Night so dark

Where are you

Come back into my heart

So dark

So dark

So dark...

I find this song very spooky, but also, touching.  Is shows Lore's desperation to cry out for Data.  He wants Data's care and Love and he needs Data to be there for him, and he feels dark inside.  It also symbolises the dark guilt he feels for what he's done.  I think this is the way he might have felt after "Descent" like falling into darkness and wanting Data to save him.   (Seawave’s Pick I)

2.         WHAT'S GOIN' ON  (Cyndi Lauper, 1986)

Mother, Mother, Mother

There's too many of you cryin'

Brother, Brother, Brother

There's far too many of you dyin'

You know you you've got to find a way

To bring back love here today

Father, Father, Father

There's no need to escalate...Listen

You see

War is not the answer

For only love can conquer hate

You know you you've got to find a way

To bring tat lovin' here today

Picket lines and picket signs

Don't punish me with brutality

Please talk to me so you can see

What's goin on, what's goin' on, what's goin on

What's goin' on, what's goin' on, yeah what's goin' on,

What's goin' on.....

Mother, Mother, Mother

Brother, brother, brother

Everybody thinks we're wrong

Who are they to judge us

Just because our hair is long

You know you you've got to find a way

To make some understanding today

Hey, hey .... hey...

You know you you've got to find a way

To bring back some lovin' here today

Picket lines (sister) and picket signs (sister)

Don't punish me (sister) with brutality (sister)

Just talk to me (sister) so you can see

What's goin on, what's goin' on, what's goin on

What's goin' on, tell me what's goin' on,

What's goin' on...  do do do do do do....

What's goin on, what's goin' on, what's goin on

What's goin on, yeah, yeah, what's goin' on, what's goin' on

Yeah, you tell me, I'll tell you, you tell me, I tell you

What's goin' on, ohh, ....

What's goin on, what's goin' on, what's goin on

I'll tell you what's goin on, you tell me what's goin' on...

This song says to me that Lore is confused about what the hell's going on.  He's feeling guilty about what he's done, and doesn't know how to apologize and is very confused and hurt about the whole thing and wondering what the hell to do, and he needs to sit down and think about it, and realize that people will help him, if he asks.

3.         PHILADELPHIA  (Neil Young, 1993)

Philadelphia (Data)

Sometimes I think that I know

What Love's all about

And when I see the light

I know I'll be all right

I've got my friends in the world

I had my friends

When we were boys and girls

And the secrets came unfurled

City of brotherly love

Place I call home

Don't turn your back on me

I don't want to be alone

Love lasts forever

Someone is talkin' to me

Calling my name

Tell me I'm not to blame

I won't be ashamed of love

Philadelphia (Data)

City of brotherly love

Brotherly love...

Sometimes I think that I know

What Love's all about

And when I see the light

I know I'll be all right

Philadelphia (Data)

This is a beautiful song, also from the movie Philadelphia.  It says to me that Lore wants to belong with Data and is not ashamed of loving his brother.  Lore is scared of being alone, and is terrified of Data rejecting him and he knows that if Data and other accept him for who he is and forgive him, he'll be home, wherever he is.

4.         TIME AFTER TIME  (Cyndi Lauper, 1983)

Lying in my bed I hear the clock ticking'

And think of you

Caught up in circles

Confusion is nothing new

Flash back (?)

All that's left behind, suitcase of memories

Time after...

Sometimes you picture me

I'm walkin' too far ahead

You're callin' to me,

I can't hear what you've said

Then you say, "go slow,"'

I fall behind

The second hand unwinds

If you're lost, you can look and you will find it,

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I will be waiting

Time after time

If you're lost you can look and you will find it,

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I will be waiting

Time after time

After my picture fades

And darkness has turned to grey

Watchin' through windows

You're wondering if I'm okay

Secrets stolen from deep inside

(?) sound of time

If you're lost, you can look and you will find it,

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I'll be waiting

Time after time

You said, "go slow,"

I fall behind

The second hand unwind

If you're lost you can look and you will find it,

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I'll be waiting

Time after time

If you're lost you can look and you will find it,

Time after time

If you fall I will catch you

I will be waiting

Time after time...Time after time...Time after time

Time after time...Time after time...Time after time

Time after time...Time after ... time...

This is a good song for Lore to look at his past memories.  It also could be Data talking to Lore, telling him that he will be waiting and willing to help his brother and give him the loving and understanding he needs, time after time.

5.         IT'S IN YOUR EYES  (Pauletta Washington, 1993)

It's in your eyes

I can see the love you try to hide

It's in your eyes

I can feel the hurt so deep inside

When I look at you and know that love for me is so true

We can do anything that we wanna do

Let's (?)

So open up your heart and let your fears fly away

It's in your eyes

Don't hide what's in your eyes

When I hold you close, I know you're the One for me

You're all I need to make my dreams come true

I see you come every day and every night when I see you go away....Don't be afraid, just keep holdin' on

It's in your eyes

Don't hide what's in your eyes

Ohh ... I'll never let you go (?)

I love you, yes I do

Take my hand as long as we're together, now

Our love is here to stay

Just open up your heart and let your fears fly away

It's in your eyes

I can see the love you try to hide

It's in your eyes

I can feel hurt so deep inside

It's in your eyes

I can see the love you try to hide...

This is a good one for us to sing to Lore, because we know how he feels inside.

You girls sing? ... That's it.  Man, I'm outta here!!

He always pretends to be mean when we're being nice! It's another song from the Philadelphia soundtrack, and I think it's really good.  We can see it all in his eyes, if only he'd acknowledge it, instead of pushing it deeper inside and making it worse.  If he does that, then it would be better from him and if others knew how much he was suffering, they'd want to help him.  No one deserves to suffer like this.  It would be so much better for Lore if he shows these feelings, then other, including Data would have a better understanding of him and help him.

6.  COME AND LET ME LOOK IN YOUR EYES (John Denver, 1976)

I guess growin' isn't hard to do

Just stand against the wall

Once I was just two feet high

Today I'm six feet tall

But knowin' who to listen to

Is somethin' else again

Words just whistle round my head

Like seasons in the wind

All across the water, the clouds are sailin'

They won't let me look at the sky

All I wanna do is try to find myself

Come and let me look in your eyes

In searcin' for the way to go

I followed all the rules ..... (Well..... sort of)

The way they say to choose between the wise men and the fools

I listened to the words they say

I read what I should be

I do whatever's right to do

Try to be what I should be

Someone let me in

I think the sky is callin'

Seems I've gotten lost on my way

All I wanna do is try to find myself

Come and let me look in your eyes

Come and let me look in your eyes

But wisdom isn't underground

Or on a mountain side

Where am I to take myself

There's no place here to hide

Where can I hide

All across the universe, the stars are fadin'

Seems we've gotten lost on our way

All I wanna do is try to find myself

Come and let me look in your eyes

Come and let me look in your eyes

Come and let me look in your eyes....

I love this song for Lore.  He did get lost somewhere and is trying to find himself - who he really is, and he wants Data to help him.  he wants to look into Data's eyes for the guidance he needs.  He doesn't want to hide anymore, he wants to face up to who he is, and understand himself so that others can understand him, and he needs all the help he can get, but he's going to have to do a lot of it himself, and I'm confident that he can do it.

7.         GOLDEN VOYAGE  (Robert Bearns & Ron Dexter, instrumental 1981)

This is a beautiful piece.   Heard it for the first time in an Insight seminar. It makes me cry sometimes.  Turn all the lights, and other sounds off and just lie back and close your eyes when you listen to this, and let all your tension go.  I call it "Sanctuary Music" because in Insight this is the music they play when you create your "Private Sanctuary."  Sometimes I imagine that Lore was with me.  I think this music symbolises the beauty and peacefulness deep within him.  It's so clam and peaceful, and the natural sounds add to the beauty.  I find it very relaxing.

It would have been be brilliant if he showed that side of him to other people and they would understand him as we do.  It makes me feel at peace with myself, the world and with Lore.  And he's at peace also.  I wish others could see, understand and respect this gentle, loving side of Lore, always there for anyone who needs him. A pity we didn’t see this in the series L

8.         MR. VAIN  (Culture Beat, 1993)

Yeah...Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him Mr. Vain.... Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him insane

He'd say 'I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain

I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain'

Call me Mr. Raider, call me Mr. Wrong

Call me insane, call me Mr. Vain

Call me whatcha like

As long as you call me time and again

Feel the presence of the aura

Of the man none to compare

Lovely dying for just a touch to a hand

Or a moment to share

Can't deny the urge that makes them

Want to lose themselves to the debonair One

Hold me back the simple fact is

That I'll all that and I'm always there

And sexy can't perplex me now

You know who's raw

As if you didn't know before

I know what I want and I want it now

I want you and then I want a little more

Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him Mr. Vain...Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him Mr. insane

He'd say 'I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain

I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain'

Mr. Wrong, Mr. wrong... Mr, Raider...Raider....ohhh

Girls are all over the world

They hope and pray and die for men

Like me cause I'm the One

Begotten son that breaks the mould

Get a look at the male epitome

Style has never seen

That makes you want to grab and hold

And squeeze real tight

Who's gonna be the one to save

You from yourself

When you wanna take bite

Please, oh, baby, please

You beg you want you say

You got to get some caught

Up in the charm that I had laid on thick

And now there's nowhere

To run...just another fish to fish on the hook of my line

Yeah, I keep many females longing for

A chance to win my heart

With s-e-x and plenty

Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him Mr. Vain...Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him insane...

He'd say 'I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain

I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain'

Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him Mr. Vain...Call him Mr. Raider, call him Mr. Wrong

Call him insane...

He'd say 'I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain

I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain

I know what I want

And I want it now

I know what I want

And I want it now

I want you, cause I'm Mr. Vain....'

'Nuff said?  Actually a few of the words don't quite fit, but I think you girls got the message.  I.E  - I know what I want and I want it NOW!

9.         I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT I DO   (Clarence "Frogman" Henry,1961)

I don't know why I love you, but I do

I don't know why I cry so, but I do

I only know I'm lonely

And that I want you only

I don't know why I love you, but I do

I can't sleep nights because I feel so restless

I don't know what to do I feel so helpless

And since you've been away

I cried both night and day

I don't know why I love you, but I do

My day has been so lonely

My night has been so blue

I don't know how I stand it but I do

Each night I sit alone and tell myself

That I will fall in love with someone else

I guess I'm wasting time

But I've got to clear my mind

I don't know why I love you, but I do

This short song is perfect for Lore, wondering why he loves Data. Some of the words don't quite work, because Lore's not human, but he loves Data, even though he might be angry and jealous with him, and he loves Data because he's his brother, but Lore can't explain why, but then he doesn't have to.

10.       BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND  (Joan Baez, 1974)

How many roads must a man walk down

Before you call him a man

How many seas must a white dove sail

Before she sleeps in the sand

How many times must a cannon ball fire

Before they're forever ban

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind

How many years can a mountain exist

Before it's washed to the sea

How many years must some people exist

Before they're allowed to be free

And how many times can a man turn his head

And pretend that he just doesn't see the answer

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind

How many times can a man look up

Before he sees the sky

How many years must one person have

Before he can hear people cry

And how many deaths will it take till he knows

That too many people have died

The answer, my friends, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind

Oh, the answer, my friends, is blowing in the wind

The answer is blowing in the wind...

This is a very powerful song.   There are a lot of lines I particularly like in it: How many years must some people exist, Before they're allowed to be free... and the verse about the people crying and deaths is very powerful indeed.  It says to me that Lore feels guilty about what he's done and wished he had seen the answer before he had done what he did.  He needs a chance to see all this and to be free, and to try his best not to make the same mistakes again, or hurt anyone.  With this new chance, Lore can start his life again and Data can help him start his life again, and to see the answer, 'Blowing in the Wind.'  And I'm sure it will be much better for everyone and Lore will have an inner peace within himself and the universe of which he is a part.

11.       LET'S GET TOGETHER  (The Youngbloods, 1967)

Love is but a song I sing

Feels we will die

You can make the mountains ring

Or make the angels cry

Though the birds on a wing

And you may not know why

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now

Some make came and some may go

He will surely pass

When the one that left us here

Returns for us at last

We are but a moment sunlight fading in the grass

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now

If you hear the song I sing

You will understand ... listen

You hold the key to love and fear

All in your trembling hand

Just one key unlocks them both

It's there at your command

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now

Come on, people now, he's my only brother

Everybody get together,

Try to love one and other right now, right now, right now...

I think this is a good song for both Data and Lore.  They only have one Brother.  Data had Lore and Lore has Data, and this song symbolises to me that they've gotten over their differences and are trying to help other who may have the same problems, perhaps other feuding siblings or other people with differences, and trying to teach them how to show their love for one and other.

12.       TURN! TURN! TURN! TO EVERYTHING THERE IS A SEASON

            (The Byrds, 1965)

To everything turn, turn, turn,

There is a season, turn, turn, turn

And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to be born; a time to die

A time to plan; a time to read

A time to kill; a time to heal

A time to laugh; a time to weep

To everything turn, turn, turn,

There is a season, turn, turn, turn

And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to build up; a time to breakdown

A time to dance; a time to mourn

A time to cast away sorrows; a time to gather stones together

To everything turn, turn, turn,

There is a season, turn, turn, turn

And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time of love; a time of hate

A time of war; a time of peace

A time you may embrace; a time to refrain from embracing

To everything turn, turn, turn,

There is a season, turn, turn, turn

And a time to every purpose under heaven

A time to gain; a time to lose

A time to rend; a time to sew

A time for love; a time for hate

A time for peace...I swear it's not too late...

I like the tune of this song, as well as it is a good song for Lore.  It teaches him that there are different times for everything, and it's not too late for him to change, and he can do it - and he wants to.  "A time of love; a time of hate" reminds me of the relationship he has with Data, but if Lore and Data work things out together, I'm sure they can help each other a lot and learn that it's never too late to love.

13.       SATURDAY  (Richard Allen, 19??)

Dad, I know I'm special

I know you care for me

In so very many ways

Like when we walk together

Hand in hand forever

When in Summer time we play

I knew you'd always be there

You and me, the perfect pair

I don't know when he changed

But we'd stay the same

Through the turnin' of the years

But now you're often gone                          'Often Wrong'...

Did I do somethin' wrong

Say it's not as it all appears

Why only your heart

Could we make a new start

Please, it's breakin' my heart

Daddy, it's been so long,

Since we've had time to play

And time to talk,

I got things to say

But in the years you've seemed so far away

Daddy, I can't wait for Saturday...

This is not the first time

You've heard me ask you

You said things would be just fine

Though the words were spoken

The promise then was broken

Somehow I got left behind

Will it be as before

How can I be sure

Daddy, please don't close the door

Daddy, it's been so long,

Since we've had time to play

And time to talk,

I got things to say

But in the years you've seemed so far away

Daddy, I can't wait for Saturday...

How much time do we have

Before I go on my way

Daddy, please I'm growin' fast (?)

Can't we just have Saturday

Daddy, it's been so long,

Since we've had time to play

And time to talk,

I got things to say

But in the years you've seemed so far away

Daddy, I can't wait for Saturday...

Saturday...Saturday...Saturday...

This song makes me cry too.  It's so moving and so perfect.  It shows how Lore really loves his father and is heartbroken that he didn't have more time with him, and is scared that his father would just shut him out.  The line "Somehow I got left behind" really makes me cry, because that's exactly what happened to Lore.  Lore is pleading his father to talk with him, but now he can't.  A lot of things were talked about in Brothers, but I think Lore needed more time than that with his father.  Perhaps "Saturday" could represent a special time when Lore can talk with his father, because now that Dr. Soong is dead, Lore would have to die too to talk to him, and now after the events that transpired in "Descent II," perhaps it's possible, but also possible for Lore to get repaired, and he can also talk with Data and his mother, Juliana and bridge the gap in his family, because they love him, despite what he's done, and Lore is special, but I think they all need a good talk and reconciliation with each other, and then Lore can be at peace with his family and they can be at peace with him.  (Seawave’s Pick III)

14.       WILL YOU BE THERE  (Michael Jackson, 1994)

Hold me

 Like the River Jordan

And I will then say to thee

 You are my friend

 Carry me

 Like you are my brother

 Love me like a mother

 Will you be there?

 When weary

Tell me will you hold me

When wrong, will you mould me

When lost will you find me?

 But they told me

 A man should be faithful

 And walk when not able

 And fight till the end

 But I'm only human

 Everyone's taking control of me

 Seems that the world's

 Got a role for me

 I'm so confused

 Will you show to me

 You'll be there for me

And care enough to bear me

 (Hold me)

 (Lay your head lowly)

 (Softly then boldly)

 (Carry me there)

 (Hold me)

 (Love me and feed me)

 (Kiss me and free me)

 (I will feel blessed)

 (Carry)

 (Carry me boldly)

 (Lift me up slowly)

 (Carry me there)

 (Save me)

 (Heal me and bathe me)

 (Softly you say to me)

 (I will be there)

 (Lift me)

 (Lift me up slowly)

 (Carry me boldly)

 (Show me you care)

 (Hold me)

 (Lay your head lowly)

 (Softly then boldly)

 (Carry me there)

 (Need me)

 (Love me and feed me)

 (Kiss me and free me)

 (I will feel blessed)

 In our darkest hour

 In my deepest despair

 Will you still care?

 Will you be there?

 In my trials

 And my tribulations

 Through our doubts

 And frustrations

 In my violence

 In my turbulence

 Through my fear

 And my confessions

In my anguish and my pain

Through my joy and my sorrow

 In the promise of

 Another tomorrow

 I'll never let you part

For you're always in my heart.

I adore this song for Lore.  He wants Data to be there for him, and he's telling Data that he'd there for him if Data needs him, and he needs Data to help him through all his feelings.  I love the last verse.  It's Lore talking to Data, telling him that he needs him to be there and no matter what - that he loves him always.  (Seawave’s Pick IV)

15.       SAIL AWAY (ORINOCO FLOW) (Enya, 1988)

Let me sail, let me sail

Let the Orinoco flow

Let me reach, let me beach

On the shores of Tripoli

Let me sail, let me sail

Let me crash upon your shore

Let me reach, let me beach

Far beyond the yellow sea

Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da ...

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

From Bissau to Palau

In shade of Avalon

From Fiji to Tiree and the Isles of Ebony

From Peru to Cebu

Hear the power of Babylon

From Bali to Cali

Far beneath the coral sea

Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da ...

Turn it up, turn it up, turn it up...

Oohhh, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up...

Oohhh, turn it up, turn it up, turn it up...

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

From the North to the South

Ebndae into Khartonm

From the deep sea of clouds to the island of the moon

Carry me on the waves to the lands I've never been

Carry me on the waves to the lands I've never seen

We can sail, we can sail

With the Orinoco flow

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

We can steer, we can near

With Rob Dickens at the wheel

We can sigh, say goodbye, Ross and his dependencies

We can sail, we can sail,

Sail away, sail away, sail away

We can reach, we can beach

On the shores of Tripoli

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

From Bali to Cali

Far beneath the coral sea

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

From Bissau to Pilau shade of Avalon

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

We can reach, we can beach

Far beyond the yellow sea

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

From Peru to Cebu

Hear the power of Babylon

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

We can sail, we can sail

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away

Sail away, sail away, sail away...

Ahhhhh, Ahhh, Ahhh....

This is a good song to listen to, but some of the words aren't quite fitting.  The sailing away, symbolises Lore wanting to escape from his troubles, but he knows he has to face them to get rid of them, or to cope with them.  The "we" I think says that Lore wants Data with him, to help him.  The sailing away also could symbolise that Lore's dealt with his troubles, and is sailing away to a new life.  And I have no doubt that he will reach his destination someday soon, and it's where he always wanted to be.

16.       THE FARAWAY NEARBY  (Cyndi Lauper, 1986)

Out in the Faraway Nearby

Can you hear me call

Out in the Faraway Nearby

I'm breakin' down the walls

Till did he have to stay

Out from the faraway

Hard looks, cold words

Don't know what it is you heard

But I didn't meant it

If I said something wrong

Oohh, you short nights long dreams

Something happened in between

(?)

Like you're here, but still you're gone

Oohh...heart beats like a knock on the door

But it sounds so faraway

In the Faraway Nearby

Can you hear me call

Out in the Faraway Nearby

I'm breakin' down the walls

Till did he have to stay

Out in the Faraway

Big whisper, small screen

But it sounds like quite a scene

But don't leave me out there

Don't know where I tried to go

Oohh, desert, oceans,

Leaving footprints in the sand

hoping that you see them

And where should you find love

World with me hand in hand...Yaha!

And tortured, you got a plan .. Aha!

And hold me, and hold me, don't stop, don't stop...

Out in the Faraway Nearby

Can you hear me call

Out in the Faraway Nearby

I'm breakin' down the walls

Till did he have to stay

Out from the Faraway...

Ohh...heart beats like a knock on the door...Yaha!

Back from the Faraway

In the Faraway Nearby

Can you hear me call,

Out in the Faraway

I love this song for Lore.  It has a sort of innocence to it.  He wants Data to hear him calling, to say he's sorry.  “The Faraway Nearby" suggests that Lore may be close to Data, but feels so far away and he wants data to forgive him and allow him into his life to be a part of it, but hopes Data can hear him, and understand his feelings and what he has to say.  Lore is prepared to understand Data, but is scared that Data won't want to understand him, but I'm sure he will.  The ending of the song is powerful, ending without music or trailing off, as though Lore’s calling out to the Faraway.   (Seawave’s Pick V)

17.       BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY  (Queen, 1975)

Is this the real life

Is this just fantasy

Caught in a landslide

No escape from reality

Open your eyes

Look up to the skies and see

I'm just a poor boy

I need no sympathy

Because I'm easy come, easy go

Little high, little low

Anyway the wind blows,

It doesn't really matter to me... to me...

Mama, just killed a man

Put a gun against his head,

Pulled my trigger, now he's dead

Mama, life, it just begun,

But now I've gone and thrown it all away

Mama, oohh, didn't mean to make you cry

If I'm not back again this time tomorrow, carry on, carry on

'Cause if nothin' really matters...

Too late, my time has come

Sent shivers down my spine

Body's achin' all the time

Goodbye everybody, I've got to go

Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth

Mama, oohh, (any way the wind blows...) (?)

I don't wanna die...

Sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man,

Scaramouch, scaramouch

Will you do the Fandango?

Thunderbolt and lightning

Very, very frightening me!

Galileo (Galileo) Galileo (Galileo)

Galileo ... figaro-magnifico

Magnificoooooo!

I'm just a poor boy.  Nobody loves me

He's just a poor boy, from a poor family

Spare him this life from this monstrosity

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?

Bismillah!  No!  We will not let you go!

(Let him go!!)

Bismillah!  We will not let you go!

(Let him go!!)

Bismillah!  We will not let you go!

Let me go!

Will not let you go

Let me go!    (Never)

(Never, never, never)

Let me go!

Ohhhh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no

Ohh, Mama mia, Mama mia

Mama mia, let me go!

Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for meeeeee!

So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye

So you think you can love me and leave me to die

Ohh, baby, can't do this to me, baby

Just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here

Nothing really matters, anyone can see

Nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me

Any way the wind blows...

THIS SONG IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

IT’S SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO … LORE!!!!!!!!

It’s powerful, passionate & kickass.  It has guts and major balls.

The song shows that he feels guilty about the people who he caused to die, even though he did not kill them directly.  I'm sure he won't kill anyone again, indirectly or otherwise.  Lore wants his parents to love him, and he knows they will not praise his actions, but he still loves them, and he wants them to love him.  The "Nothing really matters" line seems to me, that he's hiding his inner feelings from others.  It does matter to him, but he doesn't want other to see his vulnerable side.  And the line “So you think you can love me and leave me to die!…” speaks to me in volumes.  Lore's definitely angry here, perhaps talking to his parents or Data, but even though angry with them, he still loves them.  Lore has a lot of anger which he's dealing with.  He feels guilty about what he's done, and wants someone to help him, most of all, Data and his mother, Juliana.  They will understand him if he sits down and talks to them.  He can show his anger.   The latter part of the song seems to me, Lore’s inner child, his inner struggle, but also the struggle fo those around him – some love him and want to give him another chance and want to let him go, whereas others do not.

I'm just a poor boy.  Nobody loves me

He's just a poor boy, from a poor family

Spare him this life from this monstrosity

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?

Bismillah!  No!  We will not let you go!

(Let him go!!)

The lines “Just gotta get out … just gotta get right outta here…” I see this as Lore wanting to make amends.

It's justified to feel angry after what had happened to him, but he has to be careful not to let the anger rule him, otherwise they won't see what he has to say, but I'm sure they'll understand him and his feelings and forgive him for what he's done, and I'm also sure that he'll forgive them.  He loves them, that's why it hurts so much, but after this understanding it won't hurt as badly and Lore can leave his past behind, and not carry the guilt and resentment with him and take control of his new life.

(Seawave’s Pick VI) – Definitely!!!

And in 1995, it was voted the top 500 as THE NUMBER ONE SONG!!!  Me and Red Skye cheered the house down! ;)

I can also very clearly picture Lore jammin' that amazing guitar solo, screaming all that angst and headbangin’ his heart out.  For some reason, I picture him in black leather, long black curls jumping about.  Go figure ;)

18.       WALKIN' ON SUNSHINE  (Katrina and the Waves, 1985)

Oww!

I used to think that maybe you loved me

Now Baby I'm sure

And I just can't wait till the day

When you knock on my door.

Now every time I go to the mail box

Gotta hold myself down

'Cause I just can't wait

Till you write when you're comin' around

Now I'm walkin' on sunshine, wow!

I'm walkin on sunshine, wow!

I'm walkin on sunshine, wow!

And don't it feel good!

Hey!  All right now!

And don't it feel good!

Hey! Yeah

I used to think maybe you loved me

Now I know that it's true

And don't wanna spend my whole life

Still waitin' for you

Now I don't want you back for the weekend

Not back for a day ... No, no, no

I said baby, I want you back

And I want you to stay

Oh yeah ... I'm walkin' on sunshine, wow!

I'm walkin on sunshine, wow!

I'm walkin on sunshine, wow!

And don't it feel good!

Hey!  All right now!

And don't it feel good!

Yeah!  Oh yeah!

And don't it feel good!

Walkin' on sunshine

Walkin' on sunshine

I feel alive, I feel the love

I feel the love that's really me

I feel alive, I feel the love

I feel the love that's really me

I'm on sunshine, baby!  Ohh!

I'm walkin' on  sunshine, wow!

I'm walkin' on  sunshine, wow!

I'm walkin' on  sunshine, wow!

And don't it feel good!

Hey!  All right now

And don't it feel good!

I'll say it, I'll say it again now

And don't it feel good!

Oh yeah, now

And don't it feel good!

Now don't it, don't it don't it, don't it, don't it, don't it,

Don't it feel good!

I'll say it, I'll say it I'll say it again now

And don't it feel good!

Now don't it, don't it don't it, don't it, don't it, don't it,

Don't it feel good!

Tell me, tell me, tell me again now

And don't it feel good!

Oh yeah, now

And don't it feel good!

Oh, don't it feel good, now don't it feel good

Now don't it feel good!

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, (Don't it feel good!)

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!

This is a great vibey song for Lore.  Some of the words aren't exactly right for Lore, but he's expressing his love for Data in a joyful, happy way and he's discovered that he can love and it's a great feeling and he doesn't have to be afraid anymore and he feels so good, that he's "Walkin on sunshine!" yeah!

19.       TO SIR WITH LOVE  (Vicki Sue Robinson, 1984)

Those school girl days of telling tales

And biting nails are gone

But in my mind I know they will

Still live on and on

But how do you thank someone who has taken

You from crayons to perfume

It isn't easy, but I try

If you wanted the sky

I would ride across the sky in letters

I would soar a thousand feet high

To Sir (Data) with love

The time has come for closing books

And long last looks must end

And as I leave I know that I am

Leaving my best friend

Oh, a friend who taught me right from wrong

And the weak from the strong

That's a lot to learn

What can I give you in return?

Ohh, if you wanted the moon

I would try and make a start

But I would rather you

Let me give my heart

To Sir (Data) with love

Those school girl days of telling tales

And biting nails are gone

But in my mind I know they will

Still live on and on

But how do you thank someone who has taken

You from crayons to perfume

It isn't easy, but I try

Ohh, If you wanted the sky

I would ride across the sky in letters

I would soar a thousand feet high

To Sir (Data) with love

This is a sweet song and it wasn't until I was typing the words to the song that I realized what it really meant for Lore, discounting the school type l words.  I would love to give Lore my love, but I think the song is that Data has helped Lore make something of his life and helped him to be accepted and cope with his past, and Lore doesn't know quite how to thank Data.  Data's done so much for him and Lore wants to give him everything, but Lore's unsure of what Data wants and he's scared that he might seem ungrateful.  I love the second verse.  Data teaching Lore right from wrong, and the weak from the strong and so Lore can learn to accept others, and Lore now considered Data his best friend and is no longer jealous of him, but loves him dearly and realises the one thing he can give Data which no one else can, and something Data will treasure, is his love.

20.       EXILE  (Enya, 1988)

Cold as the Northern winds

In December mornings

Cold is the cry that rings

From this far distant shore

winter has come too late

Too close beside me

How can I chase away

All these fears deep inside

I'll wait the signs to come

I'll find a way

I will wait the time to come

I'll find a way home

My light shall be the moon

And my path - the ocean

My guide the morning star

As I sail home to you

I'll wait the signs to come

I'll find a way

I will wait the time to come

I'll find a way home

Who then can warm my soul

Who can quell my passion

Out of these dreams a boat

I will sail home to you

I really love this song.  It's so moving in the way that Lore feels  lost without Data.  I love the instrumental piece.  It's very uplifting, moving and beautiful.  Also, the gentle flowing tune suggests that Lore isn't angry anymore and he truly believes he can find a way home where he will be accepted and loved.  He is scared, but he's determined to try.  And I'm absolutely sure Data won't turn him away.

21.       EVENING FALLS  (Enya, 1988)

When evening falls and the daylight is fading,

From within me calls - could it be I am sleeping

For a moment I stray, then it holds me completely

Close to home - I cannot stay

Close to home feeling so far away

As I walk the room there before me a shadow

From another world, where no other can follow

Carry me to my own, to where I can cross over...

Close to home - I cannot stay

Close to home feeling so far away

Forever searching; never right

I am lost in oceans of night

Forever hoping I can find

Memories; those memories I left behind

Even though I will, will I go on believing,

That this time is real - Am I lost in this feeling

Like a child passing through, never knowing the reason

I am home I know the way

I am home - feeling, oh, so far away...

I love this song.  It's so beautiful.  Lore is feeling lost, as if he's all alone in a small boat on the ocean, or drifting through space. I love the "I am lost in oceans of night" line. Lore is forever searching and he never seems to be right, but this song allows him to admit that and go deep within his feelings and get in touch with his inner self.  The last two lines suggests that he is home, perhaps with Data and Data's trying to help him, but after all Lore's done and all he's been through, he feels like he's miles away, but again I'm sure data won't reject him.  The song is beautiful, gentle and  flowing, and I can imagine Lore listening to this song Enya's sweet voice being like a guide to help him through tough times when he's alone, or feeling that everyone's against him, and that the voice knows how he feels, and also confident that someday he truly will find home.  (Seawave’s Pick VII)

22.       ON YOUR SHORE  (Enya, 1988)

Strange how my heart beats

To find myself upon your shore

Strange how I still feel

My loss of comfort gone before

Cool waves wash over

And drift away with dreams of youth

So time is stolen

I cannot hold you long enough

And so this is where I should be now

Days and nights falling by

Days and nights falling by me

I know of a dream I should be holding

Days and nights falling by

Days and nights falling by me

Soft blue horizons

Reach far into my childhood days

As you are rising

To bring me my forgotten ways

Strange how I falter

To find myself in deep water

Strange how my heart beats

To find myself upon your shore

This is another wonderful song.  This song suggests to me that Lore has gone to Data "onto Data's shore" so to speak.  He's come for help, and to talk to his brother about things he may never have told anyone and for forgiveness, and he feels strange, because he's not comfortable.  He's got to much to say and scared that Data will not listen or he won't want to listen, and he's also scared that Data won't understand or care and that he won't want Lore intruding "on his shore."  But I'm sure Data will be understanding, as he too will feel uncomfortable, but he has always hoped for a better understanding of Lore and where could he understand his brother better, than if they're on the same shore?  They can learn much about each other, and understand each other, so it won't just go one way, and they might find that the "shore" belongs to both of them and Lore has found his way home.   (Seawave’s Pick VIII)
