Disclaimers, Kudos and notes:   All songs are owned by the artists and studios.  I lay absolutely no claim to them.  I make no money, gold pressed latinum, Republic Daitari, etc from this page.   Kudos to the artists of these gorgeous, lovely, moving and powerful songs.  Music lift’s one’s spirit and your magical melodies have brought me great joy, love and life.

Apologies for any mis-typed lyrics and other errors, though I have endeavoured to transcribe well and give credit.

Please note that I will remove lyrics if I am asked to do so by the artists and/or studios, in respect for the artists.  However, I will still list the track title and links where the songs and albums can be purchased from.

Notes:  I was inspired by my best mate Annie.  She made the first Lore tape of songs that reminded her about Lore.  It was so cool and I loved it so much, I went crazy making my own.  I stopped after number 7.  I thought I had finished.

Lore, on the other had, had other plans … ;)

With the help of Annie, Red Skye and Lyric websites, I have transcribed each of the songs (bar the instrumental ones, of course) and given my feelings on how the songs and pieces relate to Lore and/or Data.  Some serious, some moving, some silly and funny, some promiscuous J and some well just felt right!

Rating M –For a few naughtie songs!! ;)

LYRICS TO YOU SAY TOMATO, I SAY TOMAYTO …

1.         GO WEST  (The Pet Shop Boys, 1993)

Together, we will go away

Together, we will leave some day

Together, your hand in my hand

Together, we will make our plans

Together, we will fly so high

Together, tell all our friends goodbye

Together, we will start like new

Together, this is what we'll do....

Go West, life is peaceful there

Go West, back in the open air

Go West, where the skies are blue

Go West, this is what we're gonna do....

Go West ... this is what we're...

Together, we will love the beach

Together, we will learn and teach

Together, change our pace of life

Together, we will work and fight

I love you, I know you love me

I want you, how could I disagree?

So that's why, I make no protest

When you say, you will do the rest

Go West, life is peaceful there

Go West, back in the open air

Go West, Baby (Data) you and me

Go West, this is our destiny...

Go West, sun in winter time

Go West, we will do just fine

Go West, where the skies are blue

Go West, this is what we're gonna do...

There where the air is clean,

We'll be what we want to be

Now if we make our stand

We'll find our promised land

I know that, There are many ways

To live there, in the sun or shades

Together, we will find the place

To settle, where there's so much space

Without the busy pace back east

The hustling, rustling of the feet,

I know why, ready to be too

So that's what, we are gonna do...

What we're gonna do is go west

Life is peaceful there

Go West, back in the open air

Go West, where the skies are blue

Go West, this is what we're gonna do...

Go West, life is peaceful there

Go West, back in the open air

Go West, Baby, (Data) you and me

Go West, this is our destiny

Go West, sun in winter time

Go West, we will feel just fine

Go West, where the skies are blue

Go West, this is what we're gonna do

Go West ....

I find this song has an almost mystical value for Lore, like he has a mystical value to himself.  It sounds like he wants to be with Data, or wants Data to be with him to help him start a new life, perhaps forget his past and try to start new.   (Seawave’s pick I)

2.         YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE  (John Farnham, 1972)

When you walk through a storm

Hold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark

At then end of the storm is a golden sky

And the sweet silver sound of love

Walk on through the wind

Walk on through the rain

Know your dreams

Ohh walk on, walk on

With hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone

You'll never walk alone

When you walk through a storm

Hold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark

At then end of the storm is a golden sky

And the sweet silver sound of love

Walk on through the wind

Walk on through the rain

Know your dreams, touch them, and flow

Walk on, walk on

With hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone

You'll never walk alone

This song shows Lore that if he has hope, he's not alone.  I think it's a really good song for him, showing him that it's not all hopeless.

3.         YOU'RE THE VOICE  (John Farnham, 1986)

We have the chance to turn the pages over

We can write what we wanna right

We gotta make ends meet before we get much older

We're all someone's daughter, we're all someone's son

How long can we look at each other down the barrel of a gun

You're the voice, try and understand it

Make a noise and make it clear

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

This time we know we all can stand together

With the power to be powerful

Believin' we can make it better

Oohh We're all someone's daughter, we're all someone's son

How long can we look at each other down the barrel of a gun

You're the voice, try and understand it

Make a noise and make it clear

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh ....

We're not gonna sit in silence

We're not gonna live with fear

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh

Whoh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh ....

This song reminds me of the struggle between Lore and Data.  Are they always going to be looking at each other down the barrel of a gun?  They need to speak out.

4.         MY HEART HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN (Kim Carnes, Jeffery Osborne, 1986)

How was I supposed to know

I would be the one who couldn't let go.

What a fool I was to say I could always walk away

Deep inside I lost control

Love has taken over, but it's been slow

Every night I'm losin' sleep

'Cos I've fallen in too deep

And I can't fight it

'Cos my heart has a mind of its own

And I know it won't leave me alone

Though I try, I can't stop this feelin' inside

Can't believe

How I'm comin' apart              (I don't mean that literally, Lore)

And I wonder if I could have more

Though it's been said love is all in your head

My heart has a mind of its own

Funny how I used to say

Sometimes even love can get in your way.  Ohh...

Now it's crazy, but it's true,

There's no living without you when we try it

'Cos my heart has a mind of its own

And I know it won't leave me alone

Though I try ... Can't believe how I'm comin' apart

And I wonder if I could have more

Though it's been said love is all in your head

My heart has a mind of its own

It doesn't listen to a single word I say

It keeps reminding me I need you more each day...

Can't believe how I'm comin' apart

And I wonder if I could have more

Though it's been said love is all in your head

My heart has a mind of its own...

This song reminds me of Lore.  I think his heart has a mind of it's own.  It tries to remind Lore that it's there.  He knows, but Sometimes he's afraid to show these feelings.

5.         FOR YOUR (LORE'S) EYES ONLY  (Sheena Easton, 1981)

For your (Lore's) eyes only

Can see me through the night

For your eyes only

I never need to hide

You can see so much in me

So much in me that's new

I never fail, till I looked into ...

For your eyes only ... Only for you

You see what no one else can see

Never breakin' free

For your eyes only ... Only for you

The love I know you need in me

The fantasy is real with me

Only for you ... Only for you ...

For your eyes only

The nights are never cold

For you already know me

That's all I need to know

Maybe I'm an open book

Because I know you're mine

But you don't need to read between the lines

For your eyes only ... Only for you

You see what no one else can see

Never breakin' free

For your eyes only ... Only for you

The passions that collide in me

The world goes round inside of me

Only for you

For your eyes only ...

I love this love song for Lore, it shows his gentler side.  The side that we love, the side that's there, but needs a little coaxing to bring out.

6.         ANYTHING FOR LOVE (LORE)  (Meatloaf, 1993)

I would do anything for love    (Lore)

I'd run right into hell and back

I would do anything for love

I'll never lie to you and that's a fact

But I'd never forget the way you feel right now.  Oh no, no way.

I would do anything for love

Oh, I would do anything for love

I would do anything for love

But I won't do that          (Yes I would!)

No I won't do that

And Some days it don't come easy

And Some days it don't come hard

Some days it don't come at all

And these are the days that never end

And some nights you're breathin' fire

And some nights you're carved in ice

Some nights you're like nothing I've ever seen before

Or will again

Maybe I'm crazy, oh, it's crazy and it's true

But nobody can save me, no one else can save me now, but you

As long as the planets are turnin'

As long as the stars are burnin'

As long as your dreams are coming true

You better believe it ....

And I would do anything for love

And I'll be there till the final act

I would do anything for love

And I'll take the vow and seal the pact

But I'd never forgive myself if we don't go all the way Tonight

I would do anything for love

But I won't do that ... no I won't do that

I would do anything for love

Anything you've been dreamin' of, but I just won't do that

I would do anything for love, anything you've been dreamin' of

But I just won't do...

Some days I pray for silence,

Some days I pray for soul

Some days I just pray to God of

Sex and drums and rock 'n' roll

And maybe I'm lonely it's all a part about to be

This the one and only, the one and only promise I can keep

As long as the wheels are turnin'

As long as the fire's are burnin'

As long as your prayers are comin' true

You better believe it ....

And I would do anything for love

And you know it's true and that's a fact

I would do anything for love

And never think of turnin' back

But I'd never do it better

Than I do it with you

So long, so long

I would do anything for love

I would do anything for love

I would do anything for love

But I won't do that ... no I won't do that

I would do anything for love

Anything you've been dreamin' of ... But I just won't do that

I would do anything for love

Anything you've been dreamin' of

But I just won't do...

I would do anything for love

Anything you've been dreamin' of

But I just won't do...

And I'll never stop dreamin' of

You every night of my life ... No way

And I would do anything for love

But I won't do that, no I won't do that.

Will you raise me up ... Will you help me down

Will you get me right out of this godforsaken town

Will you make it all new, that's cold

I can do that, I can do that

Cater to every fantasy I got

Will you hose me down in holy water If I get too hot

Will you take me places I've never gone

Now I can do that, I can do that,

After a while you forget everything

Just a brief interlude on a midsummer night's fling

And you see that it's time to move on

I won't do that ... I won't do that

I know the territory, I've been around

It'll all turn to dust and we'll all fall down

Sooner or later you'll be screwin' around

I won't do that ... No I won't do that

Anything for love, oh, I would do anything for love,

I would do anything for love,

But I won't do that ... No I won't do that

I would do anything for Lore ;)   … I think this song is good for Lore also, it shows that he respects women, he's not just going to use us like most men do.  I like a man like that.

7.         THE MAGIC FRIEND  (2 Unlimited, 1992)

One, two, three four...

Don't just stand there, Let's get loose

I am ready, I've got the juice

Straight to your heart and back again

I tell you I am just your friend

Nice and slow, that's how we go

My love to you, I let it flow

If you want me, Come on, think again,

Because The Magic Friend, that's what I am

The Magic Friend, that's what I am

The Magic Friend is what he is ...

The Magic Friend, that's what I am

The Magic Friend is what he is ...

Yo yo, go yo, Taste that music

Be a muse, you've got to use it

Don't be afraid for Magic Friend

Because a Magic Friend, that's what I am

The Magic friend is what he is

The Magic Friend is what he is ...

The Magic Friend is what he is ...

The Magic Friend, that's what I am

Don't just stand there, let's get loose

I am ready, I've got the juice

Straight to your heart and back again

I tell you I am just your friend

Nice and slow, that's how we go

My love to you, I let it flow

If you want me, come on, think again,

Because The Magic Friend, that's what I am

The Magic Friend, that's what I am

The Magic Friend is what he is

The Magic Friend is what he is

The Magic Friend is what he is...

Don't be afraid, he's just The Magic Friend ...

I really like this song for Lore, though voice isn't exactly right for me.  He's magical is his own special away.  The song also tells us not to be afraid of him.  He's gentle and loving.  Why be afraid of that?  He won't hurt people is he doesn't need to.  We're not afraid of him, and I think he's respect and love us for that.

Yes, I know what a ‘magic friend’ is – get ya minds out of the toilet, y’all!

8.         AGE OF REASON  (John Farnham, 1988)

From the day that we were born,

We've been heading down a track

Sometimes it's made for good

Sometimes for bad

But if we look behind us,

There's a wave coming down

Carrying us forward to a new age

What about the world around us

How can we fail to see?

And now that our father's are gone

And we've been left to carry on

What about the age of reason?

So why can we be still?

Why can't we love each other?

Is kindness an ancient skill,

Buried by our blindness?

And is w look behind us,

There's a wind blowing in

To create the age of reason

What about the world around us

How can we fail to see?

And now that our father's are gone

And we've been left to carry on

What about the age of reason?

If we consider carefully,

The options put before us

So much wisdom,

So much love waiting for us

And if we look ahead,

There's the sun and the seasons

And another age of reason

What about the world around us

How can we fail to see?

And now that our father's are gone

And we've been left to carry on

What about the age of reason? ...

This song deals with how the human race treat Lore.  How would they feel if they were treated the same way?  How can they fail to see what they're doing to Lore and how much it hurts him by the coldness of their attitudes.  Where is the love these days.  Sometimes I think kindness is an ancient skill.  Lore is kind, although he may not admit it, but is it any wonder why he dislikes humans so much?

9.         TWO STRONG HEARTS  (John Farnham, 1988)

No need to analyse this kind of emotion,

Cause it comes naturally

A simple case of feeling love and devotion.

So tell me tenderly

I want to give my life to you

I want to feel my blood run through you

And oh, oh oh, I want to touch you

Over and over and over again

We've got two strong hearts

We stick together like the honey and the bee, you and me

We've got two strong hearts

Reaching out forever, like a river to the sea

Running free

Running free

I feel there's no need for compromising my reputation

When you lead me astray,

I'm proud to be a part of this fascination

When I hear you say

I want to be there to guide you

I'm going to feel my love inside you

And oh, oh, oh, I want to touch you

Over and over and over again...

We've got two strong hearts

We stick together like the honey and the bee, you and me

We've got two strong hearts

Reaching out forever, like a river to the sea ...Running free

We've got two strong hearts

We stick together like the honey and the bee, you and me

We've got two strong hearts

Reaching out forever, like a river to the sea, Running free

Running free ...

This song is for Lore to say to Data, not as a love song, but as a bond between Brother and Brother, just ignore the touching line, which doesn't really apply in this case.

Yeech! It better not!

The first line is a great line to be spoken to Data, isn't it?  Anyway, I love Data saying "I want to be there to guide you" he would be an excellent guide for Lore to help him, just ignore the rest of that verse!  I also like the "Running Free" line. I think Lore would feel a great burden lifted if he and Data became friends, or at least sorted things out.  His heart would be free.

10.       A WHOLE NEW WORLD  (Peabo Bryson, Celine Dion, 1993)

I can show you the world

Shining, shimmering, splendid

Tell me princess    (prince in Lore's case)

Now when did you last

Let your heart decide

I can open your eyes

Take you wonder by wonder,

Over sideways and under

On a magic carpet ride

A whole new world

A new fantastic point of view

No one to tell us no, or where to go

Or say we're only dreaming

A whole new world

A dazzling place I never knew

But now from way up here, it's crystal clear

That now I'm in a whole new world with you

Unbelievable sights, Indescribable feeling

Soaring, tumbling, reeling

Through an endless diamond sky

A whole new world

Don't you dare close your eyes

A hundred thousand things to see

Hold your breath, it gets better

I'm like a shooting star, I've come so far

I can't go back to where I used to be

A whole new world

With new horizons to pursue

I'll chase them anywhere

There's time to spare, let me share

This whole new world with you

Ohh...

A whole new world, whole new world

A new fantastic point of view

No one to tell us no, or where to go

Or say we're only dreaming

A whole new world

Every turn a surprise

With new horizons to pursue

Every moment gets better

I'll chase them anywhere

There's time to spare ... Anywhere

There's time to spare

Let me share this whole new world with you

A whole new world

A whole new world

That's where we'll be, where we will be

A thrilling chase, a wondrous place

For you and me...

I really love this song, and it's wonderful for Lore too.  The words are perfect!  I think Lore's agree with me.  I try to imagine Lore like a shooting star.  Lore needs a new world, away from harshness and rejection.  The world must have people who will accept him and love him for who he is and never let him down. Perhaps if people understood him, his world will be a lot kinder.  Perhaps Data can show Lore a whole new world.

11.       CRYIN' WAITIN' HOPIN'  This version --  (Marshall Crenshaw, 1987)

Cryin' waitin' hopin' You'll come back

I just can't seem to get you off my mind

Cryin' waitin' hopin' You'll come back

You're the one I love, And I think about you all the time

Cryin', do do do,

My years keep fallin' all night (and day) long

Waitin' do do do,

It seems so useless, I know it's wrong

To be Cryin' waitin' hopin' You'll come back

Maybe someday soon, it'll change

And you'll be mine

Cryin', do do do,

My years keep fallin' all night (and day) long

Waitin' do do do,

It seems so useless, I know it's wrong

To be Cryin' waitin' hopin' You'll come back

Maybe someday soon, it'll change

And you'll be mine

Cryin' waitin' hopin'...

This is how I feel about Lore, since what happened to him in the season 7 premiere, but he will come back.  I only hope it's someday soon.

12.       THE LAST SONG  (Elton John, 1994)

Yesterday you came to lift me up

As light as straw and brittle as a bird

Today I weigh less than a shadow on the wall

Just one more whisper of a voice unheard

Tomorrow, leave the windows open

As fear grows, please hold me in your arms

Won't you help me if you can, to shake this anger

I need your gentle hands, to keep me calm...

Cause I never thought I'd lose

I only thought I'd win

I never dreamed I'd feel

This fire beneath my skin

I can't believe you love me

I never thought you'd come

I guess I misjudged love

Between a father and his son...

Things we never said, come together

The hidden truth no longer haunting me

Tonight we touched on things that were never spoken

That kind of understanding sets me free...

Cause I never thought I'd lose

I only thought I'd win

I never dreamed I'd feel

This fire beneath my skin

I can't believe you love me

I never thought you'd come

I guess I misjudged love

Between a father and his son...

I love this song.  It's beautiful and it's the perfect song for Lore to sing to his father, or perhaps Dr. Soong to Lore.  It makes me cry also. It could also be said by Lore to Data, just change "father and his son" to Brothers. It's very moving. I love the tune and the words. It's so much like Lore. He did always believe he'd win, but he lost and now his family wants him back and that means everything to him, but he's sad that he can't talk to his father about what he's feeling.   (Seawave’s Pick II)

13.       WIND BENEATH MY WINGS  (Bette Middler, 1990)

Ohh, oh, oh oh ... It must've been cold there in my shadow,

To never have sunlight on your face

You were contempt to let me shine, that's your way

You always walked a step behind

So I was the one with all the glory

And you were the one with all the strain

A beautiful face without a name, for so long

A beautiful smile which hides the pain

Did you ever know that you're my hero

You're everything I would like to be

I can fly higher than an eagle

You are the wind beneath my wings

I might have a fear to go unnoticed

But I've got it all here in my mind

I want you to know, I know the truth, 'course I know

I would be nothing without you

Did you ever know that you're my hero

You're everything I wish I could be

I can fly higher than an eagle

You are the wind beneath my wings

Did I ever tell you you're my hero

You're everything, everything I wish I could be, Oh, and I...

I can fly higher than an eagle

You are the wind beneath my wings

Oh, wind beneath my wings...

Fly, fly, fly away, you let me fly so high,

Oh, Fly, fly, fly .... So high against the stars,

So high I almost touch the sky...

Thank you, thank you, thank God for you,

The wind beneath my wings

This is a moving song for lore to say to Data.  Apart from the first few lines.  I think Lore would consider Data a role model, if even a hero, but he might be afraid, or even embarrassed to tell Data this.  The words are perfect.  I think Lore's afraid of going unnoticed, that's why he goes off and does something bad, because then he is noticed, but I think he really wants to be more like Data, in control of himself, stable and have a clear path and be sure of himself.

14.       THAT'S FREEDOM  (John Farnham, 1990)

I don't know what you want from me

Or what you think love ought to be

I want something that's open and strong

As the country this road's moving on

From the mountain to the valley,

From the ocean to the alley

From the highway to the river

One emotion to deliver

One heart one way, one love

To share, but not to chain

That's freedom

It's a song of the heart

A race in the wind

A light in the dark

That's freedom

It's a reason to live

And after the rain

We can build this fire

That's freedom

I don't know why it takes so long to remember

What the world's doin' wrong

Never wanted to shove my plan one way or another

Who can't understand

All I want is a fast lane to

Where the roads cross this plain won't take you

I want something you understand

To make us stand proud

As nothing else can

It's a song of the heart

A race in the wind

The light in the dark

That's freedom

It's a reason to live

And after the rain

We can build this fire

That's freedom

It's a measure of trust

When love is alive

It's tender and tough

That's freedom

It's all love is about

The opening up and letting it out

Let freedom ring

From the mountain to the valley,

From the ocean to the alley

From the highway to the river

One emotion to deliver

One heart one way, one love

To share, but not to chain

That's freedom

It's a song of the heart

A race in the wind

A light in the dark

That's freedom

It's a reason to live

And after the rain

We can build this fire

That's freedom ...

It's a measure of trust

When love is alive

It's tender and tough

That's freedom

It's all love is about

The opening up and letting it out

Let freedom ring

That's freedom ... that's freedom ...

This is a good song for Lore.  He needs to be free to love his own way.  He can never be free if people keep rejecting him and telling him what he should be like, sure they can help him, but he can't change who he is inside.  Lore needs to be free inside as well as outside.

15.  I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW  (Johnny Nash, 1971)

I can see clearly now the rain has gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

All of the dark clouds have passed me by

It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun shiny day

Yes I can make it now the rain has gone

All of the bad feelings have disappeared

Here is that rainbow I've been praying for

It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun shiny day

Look all around ... There's nothing but blue skies

Look in the air ... There's nothing but blue skies...

I can see clearly now the rain has gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

Here is that rainbow I've been praying for

It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun shiny day

It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun shiny day

It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun shiny day

Bright...yeah It's gonna be a bright, bright, bright sun shiny day ... Bright ... bright ... bright...

This song is good for Lore when he starts his new life,  leaving all his old feelings behind -- seeing clearly, not clouded by false self-image, jealousy and hatred.  And yes, he can make it, if only he tries.

16.       ELECTRIC BLUE  (Icehouse - Iva Davies, 1988)

If a boy had a chance,

A chance with someone like you

Are you gonna break his heart

Let him cry for the moon...

Are you hidin' somewhere behind those eyes...

I just freeze every time you see through me

And it's all over you, Electric blue

On my knees, help me, Baby,  (Data)

Tell me what can I do ... Electric blue

Oh, I had a dream, For a moment I believed it was true

Oh, I'd have given anything Just to be there with you.

Are you hidin' Somewhere behind those eyes...

I just freeze every time you see through me

And it's all over you, Electric blue

In too deep, Standing here waitin'

As I'm breakin' in two, Electric blue

I can see, can see that it may be

Just a vision of you, Electric blue

On my knees, Help me, Baby, (Data)

Tell me what can I do... Electric blue...

Help me...

Are you hidin' Somewhere behind those eyes...

I just freeze every time you see through me

And it's all over you, Electric blue

In too deep, standing here waitin'

As I'm breakin' in two, Electric blue

I can see, can see that it may be

Just a vision of you, Electric blue

On my knees, help me, Baby,  (Data)

Tell me what can I do... Electric blue...

I just freeze every time you see through me

And it's all over you, Electric blue

In too deep, standing here waitin'

As I'm breakin' in two, Electric blue

I can see, can see that it may be

Just a vision of you, Electric blue

On my knees, help me, Baby,  (Data)

Tell me what can I do... Electric blue

Electric blue ... Electric blue...

I think this song is good for Data to help Lore straighten out his life.  The first verse is directed toward Data.  The rest is Lore telling Data that he needs help, is practically begging Data to help him, to give him another chance.  He sees Data in his dreams and desperately wants - and needs his brother's help.

17.       LOVE CHANGES EVERYTHING  (Michael Crawford, 1991)

Love, love changes everything

Hands and faces, burning sky

Love, love changes everything

How you live and how you die

Love can make the summer fly

Or a night seem like a life time

Yes, love, love changes everything

How I tremble at your name

Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Love, love changes everything

Days are longer once before

Love, love changes everything

It is deeper than before

Love will turn your world around

And that world will last forever

Yes, love, love changes everything

Brings you glory, brings you shame

Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Love, into the world we go

Planning futures, shaping years

Love will see that suddenly

All our wisdom disappears

Love makes fools of everyone

All the rules we make are broken

Yes, love, love changes everything

Live or perish in its wake...

Love will never , never let you be the same

(Hands and faces Burning sky...)

Love will never , never let you be the same!

I like this song for Lore in the way that it says people are changed by love and I think Lore will be also.  It will change him in a good way.  He'll still be himself, or course, but a better self.  "Love" could also be substituted with Lore.

18.       THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA  (Michael Crawford, Sarah Brightman, 1989)

In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came

That voice which calls to me, and speaks my name

And do I dream again ... And now I find

The Phantom of the Opera is there... Inside my mind

Sing once again with me, a strange duet

My power over you grows stronger yet

And though you turn from me to glance behind

The Phantom of the Opera is there... Inside your mind

Those who have seen your face draw back in fear

I am that mask you wear

It's me they fear

My spirit and my voice in one combined

The Phantom of the Opera is here...

Inside my (your) mind

He is the Phantom of the Opera...

He is the Phantom of the Opera...

In all your fantasies you always knew

That man and mystery are close to you

And in this labyrinth where night is blind

The Phantom of the Opera is here...

Inside my (your) mind

Sing for me ... Sing, my Angel

Sing... Sing for me...

Sing, my Angel of Music ... Sing for me! ...

The Phantom of the Opera character reminded me of Lore, the way he was always afraid to show his true self, because people didn't understand him.  The Phantom has one hell of a temper, but a gentle person who knows so much love and won't hurt those he cares about, just like Lore.

19.       MEMORY  (Elaine Page, 1984)

Daylight …

See the dew on the sundrop

And a rose that is fading

Roses wither away

Like the sunflower,

I yearn to turn my face to the dawn

I am waiting for the day

Midnight

Not a sound from the pavement

Has the moon lost her memory

She is smiling alone

In the lamplight,

The withered leaves collect at my feet

And the wind begins to moan

Memory

All alone in the moonlight

I can smile at the old days

I was beautiful then

I remember the time

I knew what happiness was

Let the memory live again...

Every street lamp seems to beat

A fatalistic warning

Someone mutters

And the street lamp gutters

And soon it will be morning

Daylight

I must wait for the sunrise

I must think of a new life

And I mustn't give in

When the dawn comes

Tonight will be a memory too

And a new day will begin

Burnt out ends of smoky days

The stale old smell of morning

The street lamp dies,

Another night is over

Another day is dawning

Touch me!

It's so easy to leave me

All alone with my memory

Of my days in the sun

If you touch me

You'll understand what happiness is

Look, a new day has begun ...

This gorgeous song is from the amazing Andrew Lloyd-Webber operetta, Cats.  It's about an mangy cat called Grizabella who’s always left out and rejected.  She was once the Glamour Cat.  Her feelings and sentiments are what Lore's feeling too.  He wants to be accepted and he wants others to accept him too.  It also symbolises Lore's early life among the colonists, perhaps at first, the first few weeks, it was okay, then deteriorated.

20.       SOMETIMES WHEN WE TOUCH  (Dan Hill, 1978)

You asked me if I love you

And I choke on my reply

I'd rather hurt you honestly

Then mislead you with lies

Then who an I to judge you

In what you say or do

I'm only just beginning

To see the real you

Sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much

And I have to close my eyes and hide

I wanna hold you till I die, till we both break down and cry

I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

Romance and all the strategy

Leaves me battlin' with my pride

But through the insecurity,

Some tenderness survives

I'm just another writer,

Still trapped within my truth

A hesitant prize fighter

Still trapped within my youth

Sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much

And I have to close my eyes and hide

I wanna hold you till I die, till we both break down and cry

I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

At times I'd like to break you

And drive you to your knees

At times I'd like to break through

And hold you endlessly

At times I understand you

And I know how hard you've tried

I watched while love commands you

And I've watched love pass you by

At times I think we're drifters

Still searchin' for a friend,

A brother or a sister,

But then the passion flares again...

Sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much

And I have to close my eyes and hide

I wanna hold you till I die, till we both break down and cry

I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides

This a song Lore can say to Data (not the passion bits, mind you! … Well maybe in a slash fic ;)  I particularly like the chorus.  I can picture both Lore and Data hugging and crying.  He doesn't want to lie anymore, but he's afraid to be honest.  He feels vulnerable and insecure and he's ashamed of what he's done, but he knows he can't hide from himself.  He's insecure, but also tender. He's scared that she wont return the love and reject him, but when she shows him that she does love him, his fear subsides. He just hopes Data will believe him when he's being honest and accepts him as a brother.  It's also a good song for Lore to sing to an understanding lady friend!

21.       COME THE DAY  (Midge Ure, 1989)

I feel the shadows on you now

With so much more to see

I see the strange arrival

From a thousand miles away

If I stopped right where I stand

And believed the lines on my hand

I would open up my fist

And take the things I missed

Come the day!

I will be there when the heavens start to fall

Come the day!

I will be there with my reasons for it all

Struck by sound across my face

Lies enough I can taste

Knock the choices from my head

Feel the voice in which I said

Come the day ....

I weave around the dangers

The finest threads unwind

This net between my fingers

Covers all I've left behind

If I stopped right where I stand

And believed the lines on my hand

I would open up my heart

And take the hardest part

Come the day!

I will be there when the heavens start to fall

Come the day!

I will be there with my reasons for it all

Struck by sound across my face

Lies enough I can taste

Knock the choices from my head

Feel the voice in which I said

Come the day ....

When the heavens start to fall

I will be there when you call

Come the day!

I will be there when the heavens start to fall

Come the day!

I will be there with my reasons for it all

Struck by sound across my face

Lies enough I can taste

Knock the choices from my head

Feel the voice in which I said

Come the day ....

I feel the shadows on you now

With so much more to see

I see the strange arrival

From a thousand miles away

If I stopped right where I stand

And believed the lines on my hand

I would open up my fist

And take the things I missed

Come the day!

I will be there when the heavens start to fall

Come the day!

I will be there with my reasons for it all

Struck by sound across my face

Lies enough I can taste

Knock the choices from my head

Feel the voice in which I said

Come the day...

Come the day...

I will be there when the heavens start to fall

Come the day!

I will be there with my reasons for it all

Struck by sound across my face

Lies enough I can taste

Knock the choices from my head

Feel the voice in which I said

Come the day ....

Come the day!

Come the day...

Struck by sound across my face

Lies enough I can taste

Knock the choices from my head

Feel the voice in which I said

Come the day

Come the day...

THIS IS SO LORE’S SONG, MAN!!!   In a word … Fuck.    This song, like ROCKS, DUDE!!!  wonder if this guy was secretly singing about Lore ;)   I've always LOVED this song for Lore.  It has a great tune, has guts, balls, is major league kickass and it describes his feelings perfectly.  He wants to tell people the reasons - why he did what he did, he's just waiting to tell people who will listen to him.  He wants his words heard and understood, not to fall on deaf ears.  Also, he's willing to take the consequences, the pain and guilt of what he did.  He will open up his fists, his heart and show people what he's really inside, if only he was given a chance to.  If only people would listen to him and understand the extremely rough life he's had and th tough times he went through.  It's a lot of feelings to bottle up, and Lore wishes he could tell others about how he feels and the freedom he wants in his life - to be given another chance to prove himself - to prove he can change.  Come the Day.

22.       HE AIN'T HEAVY, HE'S MY BROTHER  (The Hollys, 1969)

The road is long with many a winding turn

That leads us to who knows where

Who knows where...

But I'm strong, strong enough to carry him.

He ain't heavy, He's my brother

So on we go

His welfare is my concern

No burden is he to bear

We'll get there

But I know he would not encumber me

He ain't heavy, he's my brother

If I'm leaning at all

I'm leaning with sadness

That everyone's heart

Isn't filled with the gladness

Of love for one another

It's a long, long road

From which there is no return

While we're on the way

To live why not share

And the load doesn't way me down at all

He ain't heavy, He's my brother

He's my brother

He ain't heavy, he's my brother

He ain't heavy, he's my brother

He ain't heavy, he's my brother...

I think this is an excellent, beautiful song for Lore to sing to Data or vice versa.  It's very touching and shows the brothers' love for each other. It shows that the brother's are not a burden or a nuisance to each other.  It shows that they care about each other, even after what has happened between them. It shows that they love each other and they will help each other when the other needs it, and always be there for them in times of need.
