FADE IN:

EXT. SUNNYDALE SIGN – NIGHT

Spike is leaning against the WELCOME TO SUNNYDALE sign, looking bored. A teenage boy (CONROY) approaches him, carrying something under his sweater. Spike approaches him.

SPIKE

Did you get it?

CONROY

Yeah.

From under his sweater, Conroy produces an ancient leather bound book, encrusted with gold and silver.

SPIKE

Good. (He opens the book) Very good.

CONROY

(Demands)

Where’s my two hundred bucks?

SPIKE

Ask yer mother, kid.

CONROY

(Snarls)

SPIKE

Yeah. I am.

Spike vamps out and growls. Terrified, eyes wide, the blood drains from Conroy’s face. He screams and bolts.

SPIKE

He walks to his car, throws the book on the passenger seat.

INT. SPIKE’S CAR

Spike climbs in and drives off, nodding wildly to the music. His car stereo is up full blast.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. SUNNYDALE PARK – NIGHT

Spike (Vamp) walks in the park, his DeSoto parked nearby. He approaches a blonde long haired teenage girl (SHARON), grabs her and takes out a knife from his pocket. She is about to scream, he covers her mouth. She struggles, but he holds her fast. He lets her mouth go.

SPIKE

Don’t worry, darlin’, this won’t hurt

a bit. I just want your hair.

Take my purse ¼ my necklace¼

(She shakes her head emphatically)

The watch is worth two hundred at least ¼

SPIKE

(Inspecting the crappy watch)

Two more like. Sorry, sweet cheeks. I

need the hair. And don’t worry. I

won’t tell anyone you’re a virgin.

Sharon screams hysterically as Spike slices a huge lock of hair from her head, and lets her go, screaming into the night.

Buffy, Willow, Xander Anya and Dawn are walking along the street.

Buffy spins when she hears a scream. A teenage boy (CONROY)runs past them, screaming. The Scooby Gang share a look.

EXT. SUNNYDALE - STREET

Buffy, Willow, Xander, Anya and Dawn walk along the footpath. Another scream is heard. Buffy glares up into the sky.

BUFFY

For one night, I want some peace

and quiet with my friends!

A girl screaming hysterically, with hacked hair (SHARON) runs past the trio.

ANYA

Maybe they both saw the movie?

DAWN

They both looked pretty wigged out.

XANDER

I still say vampires.

BUFFY

Not even a vampire would touch that

hair.

ACT ONE

FADE IN:

INT. ELANORA’S CAVERN – LIGHTING DIM

An old witch, ELANORA is starring a cauldron on a bed of fire. Gnarled hands and face, scraggly hair. Spike (Non Vamp) ENTERS the cavern.

ELANORA

At last you return. Have the things

do you?

SPIKE

Yeah. The Book of Hekate, hair of

virgin maiden. Not that she was much

of a maiden, but sometimes the no name

brand is as good as the rip off one.

The Gods only know why you need

this crap. (He waggles the hair)

ELANORA

Youth, all so impatient are you.

SPIKE

I’ll have you know I’m over one

hundred and fifty.

ELANORA

Ahh, still a babe.

Spike looks annoyed. Elanora takes the book and caresses it.

SPIKE

Stop making love to the damn thing

and do the spell already. I want

this bloody chip out now.

ELANORA

Also into the pot, three drops of

your blood you must place.

Spike places the hair into the boiling orange brew and grimaces.

With his fingernails, Spike slices his wrist, allowing three drops of his blood into the brew. It begins to bubble.

SPIKE

(Deadpan)

Bubble, bubble toil and trouble.

ELANORA

Two more ingredients I require.

SPIKE

What? More?

ELANORA

Sea water from the Cape of Good Hope ¼

Spike looks as though he’s about to kill her. Elanora pushes him out of the way, goes to her shelf. She takes a small bottle of clear water, with shell pieces settled on the bottom. She then reaches for a sac, tied up in muslin.

SPIKE

Or you could just have them handy.

ELANORA

Talk too much you do.

SPIKE

At least I don’t talk like Yoda.

ELANORA

Who is this Yoda?

SPIKE

You really oughta get out more.

Elanora snorts as she places the ingredients on the table, then returns to the shelf for a small Tibetan brass bowl, and mortar in which she places one

quarter of the water, and Earth, and mixes them. She

hands the bowl to Spike.

ELANORA

Into the brew you must place these.

He stands by the bubbling concoction and pours the contents of the bowl into it, setting the bowl on the table. To his annoyance, Elanora pushes him out of the way again and begins to stir the concoction. Spike waits impatiently as Elanora reaches over to the table, opens the book and begins to read the spell.

ELANORA

Ego iubere ad vos

Dare hic Vampyr

Ille momentum suus ad obviam

Ita corpusculum id esse

Elanora raises her arms.

SPIKE

(Impatient)

The sun’s gonna come up soon, and

trust me, you don’t want me for a

roomie in the morning.

ELANORA

Silence!

ANGLE ON BREW

The brew, now purple, boils and bubbles furiously. Spike grimaces.

EXT. SUNNYDALE – GRAVEYARD - NIGHT

The Scooby Gang have their hands full with two vampires one male, one female. One of the vamps grabs Willow from behind. Xander throws himself onto the demon and tries to pry him loose.

BUFFY

Xander!

Xander turns. Buffy throws him a stake. The female vampire grabs it and stakes Dawn in the back as she tries to help Xander.

BUFFY

(horrified)

Dawn!

Dawn falls to the ground. The male vampire turns and is about to feed on Willow.

WILLOW

(Thrusts her arm out)

Incendere!

The vampire catches fire and screams before he turns to dust. Willow puts out a little fire on her shirt. The vampiress screams and runs to kill Willow. Buffy lunges forward and stakes her, the vampire turning to dust. Willow kneels down.

WILLOW

No, Dawn...

DAWN

(winces)

I’m still alive, I think, or I

wouldn’t be in this much pain.

Buffy takes her sister’s hand.

BUFFY

Dawn ...

The gang help her up.

WILLOW

We’ve got to get her to a hospital...

ANYA

Will she be all right? Ohh, humans

are so fragile ...

WILLOW

There might be more vampires around.

Do you want me to stay?

BUFFY

The sun’ll be up soon, I think we’ve

seen the last of them for tonight.

I hope.

CUT TO:

INT. ELANORA’S CAVERN

Elanora scoops a cup full of the potion and hands it to Spike.

Drink, drink!

SPIKE

Am I sure I want to?

ELANORA

Useless will the potion become if

you delay.

Spike takes the bubbling cup.

SPIKE

The effect will be permanent, won’t

it?

He takes a sip and makes a vile face.

SPIKE

It’s bloody awful! Couldn’t you have

added sugar?

ELANORA

Useless would that make the potion.

SPIKE

Honey even.

ELANORA

Not unless to kingdom come you wish

Be blown. Now drink!

Spike doesn’t look enthusiastic as he began to drink the remainder of the potion.

SPIKE

It had better work.

Spike collapses to the floor.

CUT TO:

INT. SUNNYDALE HOSPITAL – WAITING ROOM

The Scooby Gang sit in the waiting room, waiting to hear news of Xander. A Doctor enters the room.

DOCTOR

I’m looking for a Buffy Summers?

BUFFY

(Stands)

That’s me.

DOCTOR

I have good news.

DOCTOR

Your sister will survive. Whoever

attacked her fortunately missed her

vital organs.

BUFFY

(Relieved)

Thank you, Doctor, that’s a relief.

DOCTOR

You will have to file a police report

for the incident. Unfortunately I

don't hold much hope of the culprits

being found. We have a lot of gang

violence in Sunnydale.

Buffy nods.

DOCTOR

For now Miss Summers needs rest. No

strenuous activity for at least a

fortnight.

XANDER

(to Buffy)

I’ll take the Dawnster home.

BUFFY

Thanks, Xander.

CUT TO:

INT. ELANORA’S CAVERN

Spike stands, groaning.

SPIKE

What in the sodding hell are you

trying to do? Kill me?!

ELANORA

Dizzy you may feel.

SPIKE

A bit bloody late for the warning!

ELANORA

So full of anger are you.

SPIKE

Shut up.

ELANORA

Payment?

SPIKE

When I’m sure it works.

He goes to kill Elanora. He feels no pain and smiles.

ELANORA

Expella!

Spike is thrown backwards.

SPIKE

Hey, Easy! I was just testing.

ELANORA

Meet your satisfaction, does it?

SPIKE

(smiles)

Oh yeah.

He takes out a wad of money and throws it over her.

ELANORA

Be back you will.

SPIKE

Not bloody likely.

ELANORA

Return for the cure you will.

SPIKE

Have you lost it? Now why on Earth

would I want to do that? ...

(Softer) hope Willow doesn’t get

senile in her old age... (Louder)

Why would I need a sodding cure?

I am cured! Look out world Spike

is back!

Spike bounds out of Elanora's cavern.

EXT. ELANORAS CAVERN

Show Spike’s car parked outside. It is beginning to get light. Spike enters his car and speeds off like there is no tomorrow.

CUT TO:

INT. SUNNYDALE POLICE STATION

Willow sits with Buffy as she fills out a report.

POILCEMAN

Did you get a look at the attacker?

BUFFY

Yes, he was about five foot ten, large

Build mousy brown hair. I didn’t get

a good look at his face.

POLICEMAN

It’s not a good idea to be out and

about late at night, particularly

around these parts,

BUFFY

(nods)

We were on our way home from a friends.

POLICEMAN

You kids all hurry along home now.

You wouldn’t Believe the stories I

hear from people around here.

BUFFY

I think I would.

She hands the policeman her report

The Scooby Gang file out of the police station.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. BUFFY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM.

Buffy looks though she had seen better days.

XANDER

You need some rest too. You look

terrible.

BUFFY

(smiles)

Thanks. Dawn, is she –

XANDER

Sleeping like a baby.

BUFFY

Sounds like a good idea.

CUT TO:

INT. SPIKE’S CAR

Spike is driving along the street, his stereo at full. He is headbanging to the music. He looks into his rear view mirror and sees his own reflection. The car skids to a sudden halt.

EXT. SUNNYDALE STREET – DAY – SPIKE’S CAR

Show Spike’s car skid violently to a halt.

SPIKE (V.O)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

INT BUFFY’S HOUE – LIVING ROOM

Buffy, Anya, Willow and Xander sit around.

BUFFY

I wish Giles was here...

ANYA

I wish Spike was here.

BUFFY/XANDER

Spike?

ANYA

Yes, Spike. If he was here, this

wouldn’t’ve happened.

WILLOW

There’s no way to know that.

And Spike has his own agenda.

BUFFY

As much as I’d love to blame him, this

isn’t Spike’s fault.

Spike enters the house through the open door.

SPIKE

What wasn’t my fault?

BUFFY

Speak of the –

Spike gives her a look.

WILLOW

Dawn was hurt last night on patrol

SPIKE

(concerned)

She’s all right?

BUFFY

Yes, she’s resting. (Sighs)

SPIKE

Then what’s the matter? Everything’s

fine isn’t it?

BUFFY

Spike this is serious, I had to fill

out a police report.

questions. What sort of guardian takes

her care out that late at night and

gets her stabbed in the back? What

if they take Dawn away?

Dawn comes down the stairs. Her shoulder is bandaged.

DAWN

I wish you wouldn’t talk about me like

SPIKE

Sorry, pet.

BUFFY

It won’t happen again. I can’t take

You out on patrol again. It’s too

dangerous.

DAWN

I’m not a baby.

BUFFY

No, you’re my sister.

Dawn looks put out. Willow looks at Spike.

WILLOW

Did you do something with your hair?

Spike runs his hand through his hair.

SPIKE

Gotta run. Catch you later.

Spike leaves through the door.

XANDER

Is it my imagination? Did he or didn’t

he have his blankie with him?

WILLOW

I didn’t notice, though his hair

looked different and there definitely

was something about him ...

Willow shakes her head.

CUT TO:

INT. ELANORA’S CAVERN

Spike enters the cavern, but Elanora is nowhere to be found.

SPIKE

That’d be bloody right!

He smashes a cup on the ground before he leaves in high dungeon.

INT. BUFFY’S HOUSE – DAWN’S ROOM - DUSK

Buffy helps Dawn adjust her bandage.

DAWN

I wish I could go with you.

BUFFY

Dawn, you’re hurt and besides, I can’t

Let you get hurt again.

DAWN

And how do you think I feel? Every

night you go out I wonder if you’re

going to come home!

BUFFY

Ohh Dawnie...

Dawn throws her arms around Buffy.

DAWN

I don’t want to lose you either, you’re

the only family I have.

BUFFY

You know I have to go.

DAWN

Yes, you’re the Slayer.

Spike enters Dawn’s room.

DAWN

I don't need a babysitter.

SPIKE

Fine with me. I don’t need a baby.

Dawn smiles.

SPIKE

As long as you don’t mind if I watch

Passions. There’s a marathon on cable

tonight.

DAWN

Knock yourself out. By the way, what

happened to Timmy?

BUFFY

I’ll leave you two alone.

She exits the room and heads downstairs.

SPIKE

Well last I saw he was washed overboard

with Tabitha.

DAWN

Hope he’s okay.

CUT TO:

EXT. SUNNYDALE – STREETS NIGHT

The Scooby Gang are patrolling the streets.

XANDER

How’s the Dawnster?

BUFFY

With Spike. Watching Passions.

XANDER

Willow looks sad. Xander places his hand upon her

shoulder.

ANYA

We’re supposed to be on patrol here.

Vamps could hear us a mile off.

WILLOW

(quieter)

Are you sure Dawn’s okay? I mean there

was something about Spike today... he

just seemed weird.

XANDER

Spike is weird, period.

WILLOW

I know, but he seemed somehow weirder.

BUFFY

Maybe vampires have those times of the

month too.

The gang walk along the street, near patrol the magic shop. A vampire is trying to break in.

BUFFY

Hey!

The vamp flees.

WILLOW

What do you suppose he was after?

ANYA

And what did he want with my shop?

Anya examines the door.

BUFFY

I don’t know, but it looks like we

scared him off.

ANYA

He better not come back.

BUFFY

Any idea what he was after?

WILLOW

(shakes her head)

We don’t have anything that would

specifically entice vampires.

ANYA

No, and I should know, mind you I got

Some really cool clothes in the other

day, I mean vampires do have fashion

sense.

BUFFY

(Ignoring Anya)

We’d better check, just in case.

From her pocket Anya pulls out the key to the magic shop and opens the door. The gang enter the shop. Anya turns the lights on and looks relieved.

INT. MAGIC SHOP

ANYA

(Looking around)

Everything looks okay.

Buffy nods. The gang walk deeper into the shop. Anya points to a deep purple lace dress.

ANYA

See? Isn’t that to die for?

XANDER

Ahn, vampires are already dead and

what would a guy vampire want with

a dress? Unless he’s a cross dresser.

And I’ve just given my subconscious

Some ammo for a nightmare...

ANYA

Maybe for his girlfriend.

BUFFY

Anya! You’re not helping.

ANYA

Sorry, just trying to add humor to

lighten the situation. I’ve heard it

helps.

Elanora enters the magic shop.

ANYA

I’m sorry, Madam, we’re closed.

ELANORA

Saw the light and thought in luck

I may be.

WILLOW

It’s all right, what did you need?

ELANORA

In need of wormwood, asphodel and elf

leaf I am.

ANYA

Okay, but be quick. They’re over there.

Anya points. Elanora goes to the shelf and begins to pick out her ingredients.

XANDER

(to Willow)

Do you know her?

WILLOW

I’ve heard of an old witch who lives

On the outskirts of Sunnydale.

(Smiles) Don’t worry, I’ve also heard

she’s harmless.

Elanora comes to the counter. Anya rings up the sale.

ANYA

That’ll be four dollars fifty thank

you.

Elanora takes the money out of a pouch.

ELANORA

A tiring few days I have had.

BUFFY

I could say the same.

ELANORA

Deal with vampires do you?

BUFFY

You could say that.

ELANORA

Strange creatures they are.

BUFFY

Very strange.

Elanora begins to leave the shop, talking as she leaves.

ELANORA

Though never have I encountered one as

strange as the blonde one. Wanted to

become his old self again he said. A

spell I performed. Back he will come.

Elanora exits the shop.

BUFFY

Spike .... (Looks horrified) ...

Dawn!!

WILLOW

You don’t think he’ll...

BUFFY

If he has so much as touched her,

he’s dead ... erm ... dust.

WILLOW

If he has gone bad again, then what

If he’s already...

BUFFY

I can’t think about that ... And

The longer we spend here, the less

time we have!

Buffy bolts out of the magic shop and begins to run home at full speed.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. BUFFY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM

Buffy bursts inside. There is no one around.

BUFFY

Dawn!

Buffy runs upstairs.

BUFFY

Dawn?!

INT. BUFFY’S HOUSE - DAWN’S BEDROOM

Buffy bursts open the door and looks worried.

Show Dawn face down on her pillow. Buffy rushes to her, dreading.

BUFFY

Dawn?...

Dawn turns around and sleepily opens her eyes.

BUFFY

Dawn ...

DAWN

(sleepy)

What is it?

Buffy sighs with relief.

BUFFY

Where’s Spike?

DAWN

He had to go, he said had something

to do.

BUFFY

Some babysitter.

DAWN

I’m not a baby.

BUFFY

(smiles)

I know.

Buffy embraces her sister.

WILLOW

(V.O from downstairs,

worried)

Buffy!

BUFFY

Up here, Will.

Dawn gets out of bed and follows Buffy out of the room downstairs to the living room.

INT BUFFY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM

DAWN

(Demands)

What’s going on?

BUFFY

We think Spike found a way to get rid

of the chip.

DAWN

What?

If it’s true, Spike may be dangerous

again.

DAWN

Well he threw popcorn at Gwen’s

mother and yelled abuse my young

delicate ears shouldn’t’ve been (MORE)

DAWN (CONT’D)

exposed to, but I can’t blame him.

You know she is so annoying!

We don’t know that. He may be testing

the waters.

DAWN

(Smiles)

You sounded like Giles just then.

BUFFY

Dawn ... promise me...

DAWN

All right ... I’ll be careful.

BUFFY

Meanwhile I’m not taking any chances.

Willow.

WILLOW

Dawn looks contrite.

INT. ELANORA’S CAVERN

Elanora is placing some herbs in a receptacle. Spike enters.

ELANORA

Come back have you?

SPIKE

Brilliant deduction, Sherlock. Where

were you?

ELANORA

Confided to stay here am I? I think

not. Running low was I on wormwood and

elf leaf.

SPIKE

I doubt you shop at wal-mart. (BEAT)

ELANORA

Consequences there were.

SPIKE

Now you tell me. Why didn’t you tell

Me before I drank the sodding potion?

ELANORA

You didn’t ask.

Spike gives her a look.

ELANORA

Come for the cure have you.

SPIKE

You’re a regular genius. So what

goodies do I have to get you this

time ? Eye of Newt? Tail of dog?

Balls of badger?

SPIKE

(Stares at Elanora)

What?

ELANORA

The only way it is.

SPIKE

That’s just sodding great. Why in

Hades didn’t you tell me this?

Work I have to do.

SPIKE

You do realize that I don't have a

chip any more and that I can kill

you.

Elanora raises a hand, showing claws.

ELANORA

Well, I’ll be on my way then ...

He exits the cavern.

SPIKE (V.O)

Sodding hell ...

Elanora smiles to herself as she places some wormwood in her pot.

ELANORA

Vegetarian I am...

DISSOLVE TO:

INT BUFFY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM

The front door is open. The Scooby Gang are standing about. Spike comes into the house, looking rather desperate. Buffy stares at him, then glances at Willow, who looks equally surprised. Spike looks at the witch.

SPIKE

I need your help.

BUFFY

Spike, how the hell did you get

in here?

SPIKE

I ran. Now if you don’t mind, I’ve

some urgent business attend to.

Buffy grabs him.

BUFFY

I don’t know what you think you’re

playing at, Spike.

SPIKE

What brought this on? Am I the big

bad all of a sudden?

BUFFY

You tell me. We know you got rid of

the chip.

SPIKE

Oh that ... I had a witch do a little

spell. Nothing to write home about.

Buffy slams Spike against the wall.

BUFFY

If you so much as touch one of my

friends, I’ll-

SPIKE

Don’t worry about it. It’s not like

I can.

BUFFY

You mean the spell didn’t work?

SPIKE

Oh it worked all right. I’m rid of

the damned chip.

BUFFY

XANDER

So you can see our concerns, right?

SPIKE

(Turning to Buffy)

Come here.

He practically drags Buffy to the nearest mirror.

SPIKE

What do you see?

Buffy stares at both her and Spike’s reflection.

SPIKE

I’m sodding human!

The Scooby Gang look equally surprised. Xander tries unsuccessfully to stifle a smile and a laugh. Spike glares at him.

SPIKE

Laugh it up, Yogi Bear. (To Buffy)

So you see, I can’t drink their

blood even if I wanted to. I

don’t suppose I could use your

phone to order a pizza?

BUFFY

(staring at Spike)

You’re ... human?

SPIKE

Oi, I’d appreciate you not spreading

that about.

WILLOW

How do you feel?

SPIKE

feel? Bloody awful is how I feel.

I mean as a vampire you don't have

to deal with certain bodily (MORE)

SPIKE (CONT’D)

functions if you catch my drift.

XANDER

That’s more than I needed to know.

SPIKE

So, I need you help.

(He turns to Willow) Or more precisely,

your help. I want this sodding

spell broken.

XANDER

More precisely do we want this spell

broken?

SPIKE

If you break the spell I’ll become a

vamp again, chip and all, like the

spell never existed ... come on, I

can’t live like this.

BUFFY

(sighs)

Knock yourselves out, but Spike if

you’re lying...

SPIKE

You’ll stake me, got it, love.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. MAGIC SHOP

Willow sits in front side of Spike. Her hands are placed upon her knees, palms upward. They are surrounded by a circle of candles.

WILLOW

Hekate, Goddess of witches, I

Command thee, break the spell on

this creature of night. Turn time

back, let it be as it was ...

Energy swirls around the duo. Willow jerks backward and the energy dissipates violently. Spike looks at the witch.

SPIKE

Did it work?

Willow gets up and glares at Spike.

WILLOW

You knew the spell couldn’t be

broken with magic! Why didn’t

you say anything?

SPIKE

It was worth a try. So ... I’m still

human.

WILLOW

Angel produces a stake, grabs Spike and holds it at his heart.

Spike points to a mirror. Angel looks, sees Spike’s reflection. His eyes widen a tad. He lets Spike go.

ANGEL

You say the spell will be broken

if I bite you, so how do I know

SPIKE

Angel grunts and takes a sip of his drink.

INT. ANGEL’S HOTEL – FOYER

Spike and Angel stand together.

SPIKE

ANGEL

You were telling the truth, so

there’ll be no harm in changing you

back.

SPIKE

(Concerned)

ANGEL

You should have thought of that.

Angel becomes the vampire. Spike’s eyes widen in fear as Angel sinks his fangs into his neck. Angel drinks, then releases Spike, who collapses to the floor.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. ANGEL’S HOTEL – FOYER

Spike regains consciousness, places his hand over his neck and stands.

SPIKE

Bloody hell! You scared me half to

(smiles)

I like to see you squirm. It was

fun. You know you’re delicious.

SPIKE

(deadpan)

Oh, thanks! (Spike turns to

ANGEL

EXT. SUNNYDALE STREET – NIGHT

Spike’s car speeds along the street, past the Sunnydale sign, rocking it. He skids to a halt and exits his car.

SPIKE

Home sweet home.

A vampire emerges from the bushes.

GRIGOR

Well if it isn’t the traitor boy

Spike, the ‘good’ vampire.

SPIKE

Hello, Grigor, haven’t seen you

in a while.

GRIGOR

(smiles)

We heard ourselves a rumor that

A magic spell turned you human.

Six more vampires emerge, all with crude weapons such as crowbars.

Grigor laughs as he approaches Spike. Spike viciously whacks him and sends him flying. Grigor looks rather annoyed.

SPIKE

Never trust those nasty rumors.

He takes a stake out and begins to do battle with the vampires. Grigor rushes him in a rage, only to be stakes. Spike thrusts his stake behind and stakes another. In the next moment, Buffy and the Scoobies, minus Dawn, rush around the corner.

BUFFY

Spike, I see you’re back.

She stakes one of the vampires.

SPIKE

Glad to see you too, Love.

He stakes another Vampire. Buffy whirls around and stakes one trying to attack her from behind. Spike stakes one on the back as it goes after Buffy. Xander stakes a vampire leaping at him and the others. Spike thrusts his stake into the last vampire. He dusts himself off.

SPIKE

Nothin’ like the good old days.

BUFFY

You’re a vampire again.

SPIKE

Yes and with the sodding chip before you ask. Let me

demonstrate.

He vamps and rushes Xander, then reels back in agony, clutching his head.

SPIKE

(wincing)

Hell that hurt!

BUFFY

That looked too painful to be faked.

XANDER

Would you mind warning me the next

time you do that?

BUFFY

You didn’t have to demonstrate, Spike.

SPIKE

You would have believed me?

BUFFY

Maybe not, but Angel wouldn’t’ve

turned you back if he thought

for one moment you’d go bad.

SPIKE

Bloody hell, is nothing secret in

this town?

XANDER

Wait a minute, you got Angel to

turn you back!?

SPIKE

Someone, please – hit him.

DISSOLVE TO:

 EXT. BUFFY’S HOUSE.

Buffy opens the door and the gang file into the house. Spike is knocked back by the invisible vampire shield.

SPIKE

Bloody hell fire!

BUFFY

Sorry, Spike, we couldn’t take any

chances.

SPIKE

Thanks for your vote of confidence.

BUFFY

(Sighs)

Come in.

SPIKE

Thank you.

He walks into the house.

INT. BUFFY’S HOUSE – LIVING ROOM

The gang begin to relax after a hard night’s vampire slaying. Dawn comes down the stairs.

DAWN

Glad to see you’re all back in one

piece. Spike, hi!

SPIKE

Hello, Pet. How’s your-

DAWN

Still hurts a bit, no sports for me

which is a good thing. I taped

the Passions episodes you missed.

SPIKE

(smiles)

the tape.

Dawn leaves. Buffy leads Spike into the Kitchen.

INT. BUFFY’S HOUSE - KITCHEN

BUFFY

He turns and leaves, walking through the front garden and into the street. Show Buffy watching him.
