Sound of Silence

A quiet delight

It is

To sit alone

In silence

In the pale moonlight

Under the stars

A moments peace

Is all I ask

The late Autumn winds

Weave through my hair

I close my eyes

And slow my breath

Letting the tensions of the day

Leave my body

Not a soul makes a sound

This cool night

Soon Winter

Will befall the lands

And with it bring

The sound of silence

I sit atop the grey tower

Hidden by overgrown vines

An ancient stone gargoyle

My only company

A snowy owl streaks by

With a single hoot

The only sound I hear this night

Here I am at peace

The night knows my soul

The darkness knows my pain

Perhaps one evening

The night will share her stories with me

As I have shared mine with her

But for now,

I wait in silence
