Douglas Rain, who did the gentle, soft-spoken voice of HAL so wonderfully in 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Make Contact.
HAL as an energy being, stars in 2061: Odyssey Three and 3001: The Final Odyssey, but as yet movies have not been made of these.

RIP Dr Chandra. It was said he could not live without HAL. HAL was like a child to him.
